The Bair Island and Redwood Creek environment is teeming with wildlife. Harbor seals, leopard sharks and bat rays occasionally swim by while hunting the large schools of bait fish which collect in the calmer waters in the channel. For birds, we've spotted Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Double-Crested Cormorants, Brown Pelicans, Night Herons, Mallards, Western Gulls, Terns, Canadian Geese, Common Goldeneye, American Coots, Belted Kingfishers, Red-winged Blackbirds, Hummingbirds, Swallows, Hawks and some varieties we're still trying to identify. Much rarer are the visits by a confused jellyfish, a sick sea lion and several large striped bass.
